Door County’s Whitefish Dunes State Park’s Carolyn Rock has published the February and March events page and we at Glidden Lodge are eager to share it! The park is just a 3.5 mile hike from our beachfront resort and we think this is a great way to get some fresh air during our late winter months. Ready for an outdoor adventure? Here goes:

Discover Snowshoeing.
Learn to “float on snow” and be active this winter. Follow the naturalist on a fun exploration hike. Bring your own snowshoe or borrow from the park’s limited supply. Instructions provided. Dress for the weather.
Meet at the Nature Center. 9 a.m.
Winter Hike.
Get out and explore nature on snowshoes. Hike in search of animal tracks and other clues to uncover the secret lives of animals at the park and in your yard. Bring your own snowshoe or borrow from the park’s limited supply. Instructions provided. Dress for the weather.

Winter Crafts: Bark Pendent.
Take a closer look at bark. Learn to identify different trees, understand how bark grows and discover cool tree facts. Create a pendent to take home. Dress for the weather a portion of the program will be outdoors.

Sunday, March 1
Dunes in Winter.
Snowshoe into the forested dunes to explore dinosaurs, flying porcupines, and ancient history. This hike is short in distance but is vertically challenging. Limited snowshoes available for participants. Join the naturalist for this special treat to hike within the dunes. Snowshoes/winter boots and walking sticks are recommended.
