Door County Classic and Wooden Boat Festival in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin

Wednesday August 4, 2021 is the start of Maritime week in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Maritime week focuses on Sturgeon Bay’s local maritime heritage as well as honoring local coast guard personal. A variety of activities and tours are happening during from August 4th to August 15th. Sturgeon Bay’s Maritime Week coincides with the U.S. Coast Guard’s 231st Birthday on August 4th and festivities begin the following day on August 5th with a golf outing at Idlewild golf course.

In addition there will be tours of the Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay, a picnic, a concert, a classic and wooden boat festival, a Bloody Mary Social, and more. Maritime week is a great time to visit Door County for the local history, festivities, and summer weather. Door County also has three maritime museums for all the ship, boat, and lighthouse buffs out there. There is the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay as well as the Cana Island Light Station in Bailey’s Harbor which has been standing watch on the Lake Michigan shores for 150 years, and Death’s Door Maritime Museum in Gill’s Rock.
