Door County has something to offer during every season of the year. Christmas and the winter holiday is an especially beautiful time to visit with a warm, welcoming, and festive atmosphere. Holiday festivities in Door County start just prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. Sturgeon Bay has a tree lighting ceremony on historic Third Ave on November 19. Thanksgiving weekend Sister Bay holds Capture the Spirit and Egg Harbor has Holly Days which horse drawn carriage rides and an elf hunt. Ephraim has Christmas in the Village on December 4. and on the same day Bailey’s Harbor has Harbor Holidays. Fish Creek has a self-guided winter tour of lights that starts December 4. Door County is also having their first ever Christkindlmarkt which is scheduled to be open November 26-28, December 3-5, and December 10-12 in 2021. It takes place in Sister Bay. It is a European style market with Nordic foods, fine artisan goods, and music. It will be located at the corner of the past museum just off highway 57. In addition to different events, shopping, eating, and drinking there are also a plethora of outdoor activities to enjoy. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling are also popular snow activities to enjoy in the winter. White Fish Dunes state park is less than 10 minutes away by car and has groomed ski trails when whether permits.
