Door County Maritime Week

Wednesday August 4, 2021 is the start of Maritime week in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Maritime week focuses on Sturgeon Bay’s local maritime heritage as well as honoring local coast guard personal. A variety of activities and tours are happening during from August 4th to August 15th. Sturgeon Bay’s Maritime Week coincides with the U.S. Coast Guard’s 231st Birthday on August 4th and festivities begin the following day on August 5th with a golf outing at Idlewild golf course. Memorial Day Weekend at Whitefish Dunes State Park

On Saturday, May 23, 2015 visitors to Whitefish Dunes State Park can take part in a Spring Exploration. Join naturalist Carolyn Rock, for an exploration of nature. Learn about the flora and fauna found along the rocky shores, forest floor and sunny openings. Gather for this meandering walk that is short in distance but full of discoveries. Walk begins at the Nature Center at 10 a.m. Be sure to pick up your Wisconsin State Park sticker for 2015 while you’re at the park. You won’t be sorry. September at the our Lake Michigan beach means means more amazing programming from Whitefish Dunes State Park’s Carolyn Rock. The park is just a 3.5 mile hike down the beach from Glidden Lodge. Sound enticing? We think so too! Saturday September 6 Mushroom Foray. Discover the variety of mushrooms that grow within the park. Join Charlotte Lukes to explore the major mushrooms groups. Learn how to field identify of mushrooms to their family groups. This program is for the serious and beginning mushroom enthusiast.
