COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

3/20/20 Update on GLBR Response to Covid-19 On March 18th the Door County Emergency Management Director encouraged tourists not to visit Door County for the next 30 days while the county tries to handle the impact and stop any spread of the Covid-19 virus. Furthermore they are recommending that Door County lodging establishments cancel any reservations for the next 30 days and refrain from taking reservations during this time. The Glidden Lodge Beach Resort Board of Directors responded to this recommendation, in the interest of public health, to cancel upcoming reservations after this weekend through 4/20/20 at this time. The office will have limited hours during this shut down. Monday

Near Record Great Lakes Water Levels

With Lake Michigan water levels reaching an all-time high, the beach at Glidden Lodge Beach Resort has been affected as have other properties along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Great Lakes have a cycle in which water levels fluctuate over time.  When the Lake’s water levels are lower, guests enjoy Glidden Lodge Beach Resort’s 700 lineal foot private, sand beach.  With the current higher water levels parts of our beach are underwater.  On a positive note, we still have our shallow sandy swim beach which extends out 100-200 feet into the Lake. And once the water level recedes, we will regain our generous sand beach once again.  Guests can still

Door County Hotel Wishes a Fond Farewell to their Waterfront Dock

Door County Hotel Dock Removal on the Beach

Glidden Lodge Beach Resort wishes a fond farewell to our Door County waterfront dock on Lake Michigan. It was a difficult but necessary decision to remove the dock as it had reached the end of its useful life and was beginning to break down after the many years of beautiful Lake Michigan waterfront sunrises, cresting waves, and lake winds. It’s hard to believe that next time you stop in or drive by you will not see the old pier resting in between Glidden Lodge Beach Resort and Donny’s Glidden Lodge Restaurant.
