Door County Scenic Byway Changing Leaves and Fall Colors

Door County is home to the 66 mile coastal scenic byway which traverses the Door County peninsula starting just north of Sturgeon Bay. The scenic route follows highway 57 to the north tip of the Peninsula and return route takes highway 42 south on the other side of the peninsula. This scenic route takes you through and near the many picturesque towns in Door County each with their own unique businesses and attractions. Near Record Great Lakes Water Levels

With Lake Michigan water levels reaching an all-time high, the beach at Glidden Lodge Beach Resort has been affected as have other properties along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Great Lakes have a cycle in which water levels fluctuate over time.  When the Lake’s water levels are lower, guests enjoy Glidden Lodge Beach Resort’s 700 lineal foot private, sand beach.  With the current higher water levels parts of our beach are underwater.  On a positive note, we still have our shallow sandy swim beach which extends out 100-200 feet into the Lake. Early summer is here and that means more programming from Whitefish Dunes State Park’s Carolyn Rock. The park is just a 3.5 mile hike down the beach from Glidden Lodge. Sound enticing?
